Vaccine deliveries – making sure your practice is open to receive deliveries at the designated times

6 April 2020

Please contact the State Vaccine Centre on 1300 656 132 if your practice opening hours have changed or your practice is no longer open since placing your last vaccine order.

The State Vaccine Centre has received an increasing number of return vaccine deliveries from practices that have closed or changed their opening hours. Below you will find a summary of the State Vaccine Centre’s (SVC) standard process for delivery and what is expected of practices in relation to receiving their deliveries.

State Vaccine Centre (SVC) standard process:

  1. Online pre orders for flu vaccines commenced 9 March 2020
  2. Orders being packed (flu vaccines) and dispatched from 30 March 2020
  3. Once order has been packed – an EMAIL will be sent to the practice to advise of delivery schedule for the next day (this applies for all vaccine deliveries – not just flu vaccines)
  4. Driver will deliver vaccines the following day, after email is sent

ALL Practices Must:

  • Login to SVC online and make sure nominated email address is correct
  • Login to SVC online and make sure that opening hours are correct, (opening hours means that there will be staff present at practice during these hours)
  • Check the inbox of nominated email everyday for notice of a delivery
  • Make sure staff is on hand for the day of delivery during specified opening hours

Practices who are operating but have the door shut

  • Place a clear sign on door for delivery person
eg. “OPEN – PLEASE KNOCK FOR VACCINE DELIVERIES” (note: the drivers will not call; they will only knock.
  • Someone must be there to accept delivery of vaccines. Please ensure someone can always hear for a door knock.
  • If delivery is missed, vaccines will go back to SVC and re-delivery will be delayed by at least two weeks

Practices who are temporarily shut OR working from home (i.e. not actually present in the practice)

  • You must call SVC to advise of temporary closure
  • OR log onto SVC online to update opening hours to – not open

Who to call for help?

  • If practices don’t know how to do any of the above, or need further clarification, call SVC directly 1300 656 132
