Update on the NSW Prostate Clinical Cancer Registry (PCCR)

24 June 2019

The Prostate Clinical Cancer Registry is the NSW arm of the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry Australia and New Zealand, a quality initiative program funded by the Movember Foundation and managed by Monash University to improve outcomes for men with prostate cancer.

The PCCR collects demographic details, diagnosis and treatment details, in addition to quality of life and mortality data. It is an opt-out registry and invites eligible men to participate. To be eligible the following criteria must be met:

  • Diagnosed from the 1st of January 2015 onwards
  • Histopathological confirmed diagnosis of prostate cancer seven to eleven months prior to the date of the letter of invitation
  • Diagnosed or treated by a participating clinician or hospital

The data collected helps to guide best clinical practices and processes, and improve quality of patient care in NSW.

Information collected by the PCCR will be used to monitor care provided, including treatment, complications and both short and longer term outcomes of care. This information will be used to help identify trends and discover whether gaps exist in service provision.
