Antenatal Shared Care (ANSC)

The GP ANSC program is a joint initiative of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) maternity facilities and Central and Eastern Sydney PHN (CESPHN).

The goal of the GP ANSC program is to improve maternal and child wellbeing through appropriate access and provision of integrated antenatal and postnatal care. The program supports clinicians and service providers to meet quality standards, address local community needs and improve patient care in relation to maternal and child health requirements.

GP ANSC is a model of antenatal care which is jointly provided by a Recognised ANSC GP and the hospital based services. GPs must attain specific recognition to provide shared care to participate in the ANSC program. All women attending SESLHD or SLHD maternity facilities for management of their pregnancy and delivery have the option of this model of care. This is dependent upon their wishes, and agreement by both their ANSC GP and their hospital after assessment of risk factors.

Stay up to date by reading our bi-monthly ANSC e-newsletter or attend our women's health education events.
