"Family Harmony" evening for the Bangladeshi Community

The Can Get Health in Canterbury Project, together with Metro Assist, will be holding a "Family Harmony" evening for the Bangladeshi community focusing on issues affecting family and child health. As well as an opportunity to be informed on child and family health matters, the evening will incorporate the launch of a new domestic and family violence awareness video called 'Just Reach Out', and is specifically developed for the Bangladeshi community.

The video aims to promote discussion and raise awareness about domestic violence in the Bangladeshi community so that professionals and communities are able to develop appropriate strategies to deal with perpetrators, assist victims, and reduce domestic violence in the Bangladeshi community.

The video was funded by the Can Get Health in Canterbury Project, and the Department of Social Services' Settlement Service Program, and is the culmination of extensive consultation with community members, leaders and health stakeholders including Central and Eastern Sydney PHN, Sydney Local Health District and the University of New South Wales Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity.
