ATAGI has released a statement about the vaccination observation time during COVID-19

20 April 2020

The Australian Immunisation Handbook currently recommends that individuals who receive a vaccination should remain under observation for at least 15 minutes for possible immediate adverse events and to receive rapid medical care if needed.

Guidelines for reducing the observation period to five minutes have been released. Vaccine providers must read the entire criteria outlined in the statement to ensure they are providing the correct level of care and observation to each individual patient.

Visit the ATAGI website to read the full statement and ensure the criteria guidelines are fully understood.

It is important to read this statement in conjunction with the online Australian Immunisation Handbook.
