Residential Aged Care Facilities – influenza vaccine deliveries brought forward

  pdf NSW Health have reported (42 KB) that deliveries to Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) of Government-funded influenza vaccines will commence the week beginning 23 March 2020  

  • The influenza vaccines being delivered are for residents only and should not be used for staff.
  • Please ensure your vaccine refrigerator has enough storage capacity to safely store the 2020 influenza vaccines. If you have concerns regarding your refrigerator storage capacity please contact the State Vaccine Centre on 1300 656 132 to revise your order or place it hold until storage issues are resolved.
  • It is important that all immunisation providers avoid unnecessary vaccine wastage to ensure vaccines are available to eligible persons seeking influenza vaccination.

Cold Chain Management

  • Vaccines must be stored between 2°C to 8°C to remain potent.
  • To support effective cold chain management please ensure your facility meets the ‘Vaccine Cold Chain Management Minimum Requirements for Aged Care Facilities’.
  • Report any cold chain breaches to your local public health unit on 1300 066 055.
