Keeping up with vaccinations

18 November 2019

An article has been published by Medicine Today which aims to inform general practitioners about recent changes to immunisation recommendations including what is new, who to ask for help and where to find further information.

Australia’s National Immunisation Program has been active since 1997 and is regularly updated as new vaccines, technology and surveillance data become available. It is therefore important that GPs have access to the most up-to-date information and resources to best advise patients, especially more vulnerable groups including children, older people, pregnant women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The article covers:

  • Influenza
  • Measles
  • Vaccines in pregnancy
  • Pneumococcal disease
  • Q fever
  • Catch up vaccinations
  • Adverse events following immunisation
