Guidance on a new guidance - your input is important!

16 September 2019

We mentioned change is coming to CESPHN's mental health processes. CESPHN are happy to announce that we are 1 of 5 PHN's nationally that have been successfully selected to implement and review the new intake guidance set by the Department of Health: National Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) in Mental Healthcare.

Our contribution will evaluate what works (and what does not) from a practical perspective, and this will inform the final content for all PHN's to use in the future. We would like to introduce it to you and engage you in the process, to establish what works for everyone. This will also initiate the re-design of our Centralised Intake processes for PSS and PICS.

It will assist in streamlining our referral pathways and simplify our referral forms. We will be moving towards an online referral form in 2020. Therefore, our consultation will involve discussion around how we can best incorporate the IAR into our Centralised Intake re-design.
