PRODA update: AIR vaccination provider transition from authentication file to PRODA

8 July 2019

On 1 July 2019, the Department of Human Services (DHS) will begin the transition from authentication file to Provider Digital Access (PRODA) to access the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) site via Health Professional Online Services (HPOS).

AIR will roll out the transition until June 2020. AIR will send a letter to providers ahead of the changes. AIR vaccination providers with a Medicare provider number (i.e. medical practitioners, nurse practitioners and midwives) can already create a PRODA account.

There are 8,400 AIR vaccination providers with a Medicare provider number using their authentication file to access the AIR site. Over half of these providers already have a PRODA account and are using it to access other DHS services.

Key dates:

  • 1 July 2019
DHS will notify 8,400 AIR vaccination providers with a Medicare provider number that they will only be able to use PRODA to access the AIR site via HPOS from 31 August 2019.
  • 31 August 2019
DHS will switch off authentication files for AIR vaccination providers with a Medicare provider number on 30 August 2019. All AIR vaccination providers with a Medicare provider number must use PRODA to access the AIR site via HPOS from 31 August 2019.

You need to register for a PRODA account by 30 August 2019 by going to humanservices.gov.au/proda and selecting ‘Register’.

Follow the instructions to create your account and link to government services.

If you already have a PRODA account you do not need to create another one. If your PRODA account is suspended due to inactivity, you need to reactivate it by following the on screen instructions in HPOS.
