Entering new vaccinations in Medical Director

25 February 2019

The latest version of Medical Director 3.18 is now available. Please update your software here.

MedicalDirector (MD) Clinical and PracSoft have released version 3.18 of the practice software.  This release includes the updated National Immunisation Program Childhood Schedule which changed on 1 July 2018.  Practices are encouraged to upgrade their software to this latest version, to assist with more accurate recording of immunisation encounters and transmission to the Australian Immunisation Register. Further information is available from the MedicalDirector website.

The pdf practice software advice resource (391 KB)  has also been updated to reflect the new version of MD.

The older version of Medical Director (3.17) is now out of date as the immunisation tab does not include the National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule changes that occurred on 1 July 2018.

It is important that all immunisation providers follow the NIP schedule and give Nimenrix (Men ACWY) at 12 months and ACT Hib (Haemophilus influenza type b) at 18 months. These vaccines need to be recorded as “another type of vaccination given” if using a version older than 3.18.

This pdf resource (316 KB) provides information about how to correctly record these vaccinations to ensure the correct sequence (dose) and batch numbers are listed and transferred to the Australian Immunisation Register.
