Balmain General Practice Casualty

Balmain Hospital’s General Practice Casualty (GPC) is currently seeking vocationally registered general practitioners to join their clinic. The service is conveniently located on the ground floor of Balmain Hospital and operates seven days a week from 8 am to 10 pm.

The practice provides care to patients with minor injuries and illness when their usual GP is unavailable. Our team also provides Hospital in The Home, Minor Fracture and Acute Wound clinic services to support local General Practice.

Our GPs work approximately one shift per fortnight with a team of very experienced acute care nurses and are employed as casual Career Medical Officers with Sydney Local Health District.

GPC provides an opportunity for GPs to refresh their acute general practice and procedural skills.

Training and orientation to GPC will be provided including simple procedures, such as backslab application, suturing and cannulation as well as the use of clinical computer applications.
