Positive Paws - Therapy Dog Awareness Month

Delta Society's mission is to promote and facilitate positive interaction between people and companion animals. Delta Therapy Dogs is a heartwarming program that brings the joys of animal companionship to those who need it most. Delta’s amazing and devoted volunteer Therapy Dog teams brighten the lives of an estimated 20,000 Australians in healthcare and welfare facilities every week.

With research and anecdotal evidence pointing to the great mental health benefits that therapy dogs can provide to people, Delta has worked hard over the past few years to promote and increase volunteering in mental health services.

In September 2018, Delta Society launched the inaugural Therapy Dog Awareness Month which was recently announced by the Department of Health. Through their Paws the Pressure program, Delta Society were involved in their biggest ever R U OK? Day program with over 120 therapy dogs visiting companies, organisations and universities across Australia.
