Vaccination in Pregnancy Reminder – a new resource for private obstetricians

CESPHN, in conjunction with the local Public Health Units, will be trialing a resource to assist private obstetricians to better inform their patients about the need for vaccination during pregnancy including the pertussis vaccine and flu vaccines. The resource has been produced in response to the very poor uptake of the flu vaccine in pregnant women and a noted lower rate in pregnant women using a private obstetrician.

Vaccines are not usually administered in the obstetrician setting so this resource hopes to assist obstetricians to remind their patients to visit their GP to receive these vaccines at the appropriate time in their pregnancy. Women may present to their GP with this “tear–off “ reminder resource obtained from their obstetrician.
