Self-compassion promotes compassion

Psychologist Adriana Zapata-Delgado says:

“People often judge themselves too harshly and practitioners are not exempt from this. We can be hard on ourselves and sometimes the people we work with. By practicing self-compassion, we can establish better connections with our clients, we are more compassionate to them and they in turn become more compassionate to themselves. Self-compassion shifts our focus back to looking after ourselves, improves our ability to cope with the stressors of life and to be more present in the therapeutic work we do."
