Youth Health in General Practice: Meet our MCs and see the full program

We are very proud to announce that we will be having two young people MC our Youth Health event.

Emma is part of the headspace Bondi Youth Reference Group, and mentors other young people on the headspace National Youth Reference Group.

Daniel is part of the headspace Camperdown Youth Reference Group, and also volunteers facilitating peer workshops on sexual health.

These young people are passionate advocates for youth mental health and will bring great energy and insight to the event.

We are also pleased to announce the following speakers:

  • Dr. Shane Cross is the Director of Clinical and Service Implementation on Project Synergy; a Clinical Researcher in the Youth Mental Health Research Team at the Brain and Mind Centre of The University of Sydney and a Senior Clinical Psychologist with 20 years’ experience in child, adolescent and young adult mental health across primary, secondary and tertiary service settings. He will be talking about the specific mental health needs of young people
  • Ever wondered what online support is out there? A/Prof Frances Kay-Lambkin is internationally recognised for her innovative technology-based interventions for mental health and substance use disorders, and is the current President of the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions. With fellow researcher Dr Louise Thornton, she'll be combining her latest research findings with practical advice for anyone who wants to support young people with their mental health and substance use.
  • Dr Sarah Maguire (BScPsych Hons, MA, DCP, PhD) is a clinical psychologist, researcher, educator and policy maker with 20 years experience in the field of eating disorders. She will be talking about early intervention into disordered eating, and how this can be managed in general practice.
