Family abuse and violence - Are you ready to respond?

The RACGP Professional Development Program via GP Learning has just released a series of online learning modules dealing with Family Abuse and Violence - Know how to respond when you suspect violence.

Research shows that one in four women in Australia has experienced abuse and violence by their partner, boyfriend or date with domestic or intimate partner violence the leading risk factor contributing to poor health in Australian women aged 18–44.

GPs are in a key position to help individuals affected by sexual assault, and domestic and family violence. Whether it is noticing the signs, knowing how to start difficult conversations, or dealing with disclosure, how you respond can make a big difference to someone’s life.

This QI and CPD accredited program provides effective resources to support you when assisting families where violence is occurring. Learn about:

  • the prevalence and impact of family violence in our communities
  • the skills needed to identify and respond to family violence
  • effective collaboration with the broader family violence sector
