GP representative for After Hours Advisory Group

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN (CESPHN) is seeking individual expressions of interest for membership After Hours Advisory Group.

Background

Primary health networks have been established with the key objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of primary health care services for individuals, particularly people at risk of poor health outcomes. Our vision is supporting, strengthening and shaping a world class, person centred primary health care system.

The After Hours program supports the access, efficiency and effectiveness of after-hours primary health care within the central and eastern Sydney region. We work closely with stakeholders to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of after-hours primary health care for patients and improve access to after hours primary health care through effective planning, coordination and support for population based after hours primary care.

General practitioners are invited to submit an expression of interest to become a GP Representatives for the After Hours Advisory Committee. The GP Representatives will provide expert advice and guidance associated with CESPHN After Hours Project activity.

Overview of GP representative role

Responsibilities will include:
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the CESPHN After Hours Project Team to assist in aligning projects with the needs of stakeholder groups
  • Provide CESPHN After Hours Project Team with expert guidance on Project issues
  • Identify any issues that may have implications for the Project
  • Review projects and planning activities to ensure outcomes are focussed on needs
Selection criteria
  • Interest to influence and provide expert guidance to projects addressing the gaps in after hour’s service arrangements
  • GP with full AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner and currently practicing in the CESPHN region
  • Experience working the after hours time period
Time commitment

In general, this role will require a commitment of 2 hours per quarter. Committee meetings will be held every three months at alternating CESPHN Offices in Ashfield and Kogarah. Meetings are held in the evening from 6.30PM until 8.30PM (with dinner served from 6.30PM and the meeting beginning at 7.00PM). Meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Wednesday of each quarter, with the next meeting will be held on the 21st of February 2018.

Remuneration

CESPHN Representatives are appointed as per the terms and conditions outlined in the EIS Health Ltd Representation Policy (attached). Consumer Representatives are reimbursed for their time at the current CESPHN approved consumer representative rate. CESPHN also reimburses any pre-approved, reasonable out of pocket expenses which are incurred in connection with the performance of their role.
