Infanrix IPV given at less than 3½ years of age

The current recommendation for all children born before 1st October 2014 is to have Infanrix-IPV dose 4 at four years of age. Anything earlier than 3 years and six months is considered an invalid dose by AIR.

Children born before 1st October 2014 are too old for the 18 month booster that was recently added to the National Immunisation Program Schedule.

The timing of the early childhood DTPa booster doses is to maximise pertussis immunity during childhood as waning occurs with age and until the child receives their next booster dose in their first year of high school.
