Balmain GP Casualty Senior Medical Officer - GP CMO at Balmain Hospital GP Casualty and HITH Service

Duties to be performed
  • To provide Senior Medical services and assist the Director in managing Balmain GP Casualty and HITH.
  • Provide high quality care to all GPC, HITH, Minor Fracture and Wound Care patients
  • Work collaboratively with Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Clerical Staff within the GP Casualty team
  • Provide supervision, education and training as required to GPC staff including GPs, GP Registrars, Nursing Staff, Medical Students and Medical Observers.
  • Provide support to the Director by assisting with clinical, administrative and managerial tasks whilst meeting the demands of a 7 day clinical roster including during the after-hours period. This involves on-call supervision and leave cover.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
  • Perform quality improvement activities including data collection, auditing, service evaluation and presentation.
Required skills
  • Minimum of 5 years Postgraduate clinical experience OR have recently worked in General Practice for 3 years OR hold RACGP Fellowship.
  • Current Full and Unconditional Registration with the Medical Board of Australia/Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Current National Criminal Record Check and Working With CC.
Preferred skills/experience
  • Minimum of 5 years Postgraduate clinicalexperience OR have recently worked in General Practice for 3 years OR hold RACGP Fellowship and Current Full and Unconditional Registration with the Medical Board of Australia/Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Recent Emergency Medicine, Acute General Practice or GPC experience or successful completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine course within last 2 years.
  • Awareness and understanding of the principles of acute general practice, Hospital in The Home, minor fracture and acute wound patient management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development.
  • Effective Computer and Information Technology Skills.
  • Highly Developed Verbal and Written Communication Skills and demonstrated Organisational and Time Management Skills.
  • Experience as a medical educator or GP Supervisor.
  • Awareness, understanding and commitment to principles of Infection Control, Work Health Safety and Equal Employment Opportunities.
