These sessions are focused on relevant clinical and practice support areas in primary health care as well as events with a specific focus for general practitioners, practice nurses, practice staff and allied health professionals.

Free access to Armchair Medical for 10 weeks

For the past year, CESPHN has been filming events and hosting them on Armchair Medical TV to make them available to a larger audience. As we are unable to host face-to-face events at this time in accordance with physical distancing measures, Armchair Medical TV has offered to provide 10 weeks of free access to the entire Armchair Medical video library to general practitioners in the central and eastern Sydney region.

Armchair Medical is a third party website. CESPHN does not control this third party website and therefore takes no responsibility for the content provided. You should direct any concerns to the administrator of Armchair Medical and refer to their separate terms of use, privacy policies and other rules before accessing their content.

CESPHN 2021 GP Peer Group Learning Program 

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN runs an online GP Peer Group Learning (PGL) Program across the region.

PGL activities are a popular way to identify and address specific learning needs, discuss cases and share knowledge in an open, interactive supportive environment for likeminded GPs. The program provides opportunities for networking and encourages a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare as well as fostering skills in leadership, deliberation and consensus.

Peer Group Learning qualifies as an RACGP Accredited CPD Activity (previously Cat.1) and is a format of education that allows GPs to share their knowledge and discuss daily practice with peers.

CESPHN CPD event policies

CESPHN offers a wide range of education events across our region to support primary health care providers working within our PHN boundaries. CESPHN would like to remind stakeholders of the following policies which apply to our CPD program:

  • Please ensure that you register for all events you wish to attend. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and many events have a maximum number of people which can be accepted due to venue size and catering arrangements. We recommend that individuals register early to avoid disappointment.
  • Please check the target audience prior to registering for an event. Many of our events are targeted to a specific audience group – for example, GPs only or practice managers only. If you do not fall into the target audience, we may not be able to accept your registration.
  • In the event that a CPD session is fully booked, you will be informed of this and given the option to have your name placed on a waitlist. If there are any cancellations, people on the waitlist will be contacted in order and slotted into the event.
  • To register for an event simply click the "Register Now" button on the event page.
  • Users can now register for events using two of the three identifiers - email address, mobile number or member number. This means that if you do not remember your member number, you can still register with the two other identifiers. You can also enter your mobile number to receive an SMS with your member number. Each event will be identified as a member-only event or open event. If an event is for members only, you will be prompted to either become a member or pay the event fee.
  • If you have not renewed your membership, please refer to the membership renewal email that has been sent to all members or contact Sue Moxon at s.moxon@cesphn.com.au.
  • If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the CPD Team at events@cesphn.com.au or by calling 1300 986 991.
  • CPD events (excluding CPR) are generally free of charge for GPs and allied health professionals practicing within the CESPHN boundaries who are a financial member of their local GP or allied health network. For information regarding membership please refer to the GP and AHP Network Membership Information. Alternatively, you can contact the Member Support Program Officer, Sue Moxon at s.moxon@cesphn.com.au for further information. Please note at this point in time, events are free of charge (excluding CPR) for GP registrars, practice nurses, practice managers and practice administrative staff.
  • Due to high demand for our CPD events, we may not always be able to accommodate people who ‘show up’ at the event without having received a confirmation of registration.
  • Cancellation policy: If you are unable to attend an event you have registered for, please contact the CPD team at your earliest convenience to cancel your booking. This allows us ensure correct catering requirements, and have the opportunity to offer a place to individuals who may be on a wait list for the event.
  • CPR sessions have limited numbers and fill up quickly. Please register and pay online to secure your spot and avoid disappointment. No refunds can be given once payment is made.
  • Our team sends event reminders via email (usually 48 hours prior to the event) and SMS (usually on the day of the event) providing we have this contact information on file. Please ensure we have your correct contact information (email address or mobile number) to ensure you receive this information.

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) CPD Requirements 

2020 marks the start of a new triennium - the RACGP 2020-2022 Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development (QI&CPD) Program for the 2020–22 triennium. Minimum requirements for this triennium are:

  • Completion of 130 Continuing Professional Development Program points, which must include:
    • 2 x CPD Accredited Activities (formally Category 1 activities)
      • 40 CPD points per activity
      • CPD Accredited Activities may be either provider-led or self-directed
    • 1 x Basic Life Support (BLS) activity
      • 5 CPD points
      • Training must be a minimum of one hour in duration and include demonstration of competence in chest compressions, rescue breathing and use of an automated external defibrillator

The remaining points required may be accrued through your chosen learning.
