Allied Health Practice Accreditation

Overview

Quality Innovation Performance (QIP) is a not-for-profit health promotion charity with more than twenty years’ experience in community service accreditation and more than ten years’ experience in primary and secondary health care accreditation and related services. QIP is part of the AGPAL Group of Companies and is Australia’s most comprehensive accreditation company.

QIP is involved in the rollout of introductory accreditation for dental practices and the revised physiotherapy practice standards.

Physiotherapy Accreditation Program

The standards for physiotherapy practices were revised in 2011. The Physiotherapy Accreditation Program includes:

  • helping practices to measure and improve practice performance and outcomes
  • provides a basis for minimum standards of physiotherapy patient safety and care
  • is based on a desktop assessment model, conducted by a peer physiotherapist surveyor
  • has a three year accreditation cycle, and
  • empowers physiotherapy practices to undertake a process of continuous quality improvement.

Introductory Dental Practice Accreditation

Introductory Dental Practice Accreditation is voluntary, profession-led and aims to promote continuous quality improvement.

Assistance

Allied Health Practices located within our region have access to the following services and support for accreditation/re-accreditation or just to help maintain quality within their practice.

Practice visits

Free confidential/non commitment general advice/assistance from CESPHN Project Officers on accreditation/re-accreditation and quality in practice. Realise how do-able accreditation is and have your questions answered.

Practice training sessions (certificate provided) via CPD events

As part of the accreditation process, practice staff should attend educational activities relevant to their area of work in the practice. Educational sessions can be in the following areas:

  • Infection control
  • Telephone techniques
  • Chronic disease MBS items
  • Structuring your practice
  • Computer IT ideas and support

Resource provision

We can also provide resources and templates to assist:

  • Compulsory signage for your practice
  • Privacy toolkit
  • Staff induction and human resources kits
  • Practice and IT manuals or template
  • Policy and procedure manuals
